Help us connect as people so my doctor can fully engage with me as a patient. Allow me more time to ask questions. Prompt the doctor to ask about my priorities, which may be different than he or she suspects. Encourage the doctor to share everything that’s found (good and bad). Set up our relationship as a partnership, where we decide things together instead of one of us telling the other what to do. Help the doctor understand that just because I ask questions or sometimes disagree doesn’t mean I don’t value his or her expertise. Ensure I get all my information, including the full results of every test, not just what the doctor thinks I need to know.
